Who We Are

Mission: To provide the community with access to fresh, locally-grown food, flowers, and crafts while supporting local vendors.

The Muskegon Farmers Market is one of the largest farmers markets in Michigan, offering a vibrant space for local farmers, artisans, and vendors to connect with the community. Located in downtown Muskegon, it operates year-round, providing fresh, locally-grown produce, meats, dairy, baked goods, flowers, and handmade crafts.

The market has a long history, dating back to the early 1900s, and has become a central hub for local commerce and community events. In 2014, the market moved to its current location, which features a spacious open-air pavilion, a covered indoor space, and plenty of parking. It serves as a gathering place for residents and visitors alike, promoting local agriculture, sustainability, and healthy living.

What We Do

Here’s what the Muskegon Farmer’s Market does:

  1. Support Local Agriculture: The market helps support local agriculture and ensures that customers have access to high-quality, fresh, and seasonal produce by providing a venue for farmers to sell their fresh produce and agricultural products directly to the public
  2. Encourage Healthy Eating: By offering a wide range of nutritious food options, the Market encourages healthy eating habits within the community. and contributing to better health and well-being.
  3. Promote Small Businesses and Artisans: The Market stimulates the local economy and promotes entrepreneurship by providing a platform for local artisans, bakers, and small business owners to sell handcrafted goods such as baked items, crafts, and art.
  4. Host Community Events: Beyond its regular market days, we are a venue for community engagement, hosting special events such as cooking demonstrations, educational workshops, seasonal festivals, and live entertainment.
  5. Provide Access to Fresh Food Year-Round: We host an outdoor market during warmer months and an indoor market during the winter, ensuring that the community has continuous access to fresh and local products throughout the year.
  6. Sustainability and Environmental Awareness: By supporting local food systems and reducing the need for long-distance transportation of goods, the Market promotes sustainability and environmental awareness. It also encourages practices such as recycling and waste reduction.
