Who We Are

Mission: To achieve a reduction in drug and alcohol use by empowering our community to engage in opportunities that will promote a healthy and quality life.

Oceana LEADS (Leading Efforts Against Alcohol and Drugs) was founded in 2016 and is a partnership between Oceana County community members, organizations, and other stakeholders to reduce the misuse and abuse of alcohol and drugs within our community.

Oceana LEADS uses the Strategic Planning Framework (SPF) to plan and implement initiatives that engage youth, families, and community stakeholders in working together to prevent youth substance abuse and promote community wellness.

What We Do

Our priority areas include youth alcohol use, youth marijuana use, youth vaping and opiate overdoses. Oceana LEADS continually monitors data trends to adjust our priorities based on community needs.

Strategies like a social hosting coaster campaign with local restaurants, hosting community education events such as Keep Out: The Teen Room Project and substance-free events for youth and families contribute to reducing substance misuse in our community.

Our Action Teams include the Opiate Task Force, the Marijuana and Alcohol Action Team, and the TOPPC (The Oceana Prevention Partnership for Change) Youth Committee.
