At United Way of the Lakeshore, we believe United is the Way to create lasting change. Our annual Heroes Celebration is a powerful evening dedicated to honoring the partners, volunteers, and frontline professionals who create ripple effects of impact across our community every single day.
We’re building a passionate, creative, and community-driven Planning Committee to help bring the 2026 Heroes Celebration to life—and we’d love for you to be part of it.
What You’ll Do
As a member of the Heroes Celebration Planning Committee, you’ll play a hands-on role in shaping an unforgettable event:

Award Selection Support
Help review nominations and celebrate the individuals and organizations making a difference. -
Theme & Experience Design
Collaborate on event theme, décor, and overall guest experience. -
Fundraising Support
Assist in securing in-kind donations, sponsorships, and auction or raffle items. -
Promotion & Outreach
Share the event through your networks, social media, and community connections. -
Volunteer Coordination
Help recruit and guide event-day volunteers to ensure everything runs smoothly. -
Event-Day Leadership
Support registration, guest experience, setup/teardown, and overall flow of the event. -
Post-Event Wrap-Up
Assist with thank-you outreach and help us reflect on what worked well for future success.
Time Commitment
This is a flexible opportunity, with light involvement early on and increased engagement as the event approaches.
Committee members can expect:

Periodic planning meetings (virtual and/or in-person)

Optional subcommittee work based on your interests

Active participation in the final weeks leading up to the event

Availability on the day of the Heroes Celebration
