Engage with the community at an upcoming event!
United Way of the Lakeshore is looking for volunteers who will help host community outreach booths at local resource fairs, festivals, and events throughout the summer. Greet visitors as they arrive at the table, give out United Way swag, assist guests in playing a game or participating in a table activity, and hand out materials outlining our current programs.
Time Commitment: Varies by event butbut is generally between 3-4 hours.
Locations: various resource fairs and events in Muskegon, Oceana, and Newaygo Counties.
Volunteer Qualifications: Volunteers may have to stand for long periods of time depending on how busy the event is. Typically, a chair is provided at events. Volunteers will need to provide their own transportation to and from events. In the case of an event happening on school property, volunteers may be asked to complete a background check before volunteering.
A United Way t-shirt will be provided to table volunteers, while supplies last.
Upcoming Dates:
- Friday, June 5, 2026 - 11 AM - 2 PM | Muskegon High School Last Day of School Event, hosted by the City of Muskegon Police Department. Greet students, hand out resources and program materials, sign interested students up for the Volunteer Center, and oversee a game they can play at or near the table (hand out prizes). Meet at Muskegon High School at 80 W. Southern Ave, beginning at 11 AM. Lunch Provided!
- Saturday, June 6, 2026 - Multiple Shifts between 11 AM - 7 PM | Muskegon Pride Festival, hosted by Muskegon Pride. Greet community members and festival attendees, assist as guests play a game and hand out prizes, hand out program materials. Snacks and water provided. Meet at Hackley Park in Downtown Muskegon (details on exact location will be shared with registered volunteers as soon as we receive that information from Pride).
