Description

What Is Youth Day of Caring?

Youth Day of Caring is a one day volunteer event, engaging tons of local high school & middle school students in service throughout the community. Traditionally, students from public, private, and alternative education institutions have participated. It is our goal to create an all-inclusive event to engage students from every corner of the community working towards a common purpose.

ADULT VOLUNTEERS ONLY:

Are you a parent, guardian, teacher or youth club leader looking to help volunteer on Youth Day of Caring? Help us keep our youth safe with chaperone and being leaders on the work sites! All adult volunteers are required to attend a training on April 18th at a time that is TBD. Please contact Dominique Bunker at 231-332-4006 if you have any questions or concerns.

When & Where Is It?

We are celebrating Earth Day! This year, Youth Day of Caring will be on April 22nd, after school from 3:30 - 6:00 PM! We will be working with the Muskegon County Land Bank & the Urban Safety Corps working on abandoned lots in the Muskegon Heights Community. With the snow, we are unable to determine the exact lots, but all students will be in close proximity to each other in teams with a chaperone working on lots by Marsh Field!

Exact maps to come soon!

What Will Volunteers Be Doing?

Students can come solo or bring an entire team to work this Youth Day of Caring! Together we will be clearing and cleaning the lots in the community! This includes: raking, removing branches or debris, filling in holes, mowing, weeding, and edging the land. We also have fun doing it! Each volunteer will be put on a team (unless they have came with a school team) and placed with a chaperone on the lots.
