Volunteer To Provide Your Insight & Perspective On This Peace Building Project!
Join us for an engaging lunch where you’ll be invited to provide your insight and perspective from your generation - The Silent Generation. Participants will be placed at tables with a total of 5 different generations present! During the lunch, a facilitator will help us navigate questions that spark conversation of how each generation may see the world differently. This activity is a great way to understand our community and build peace between our neighbors - a perfect way to honor Dr. King’s legacy.
While this conversation is happening, volunteers will be provided with a FREE catered lunch and also actively partake in some small table-top community service projects.
This event is a great way to meet new people, make a difference, and strengthen the relationship bonds between neighbors!
Logistics:
Date: January 15th, 2024
Time: 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM
Location: Central United Methodist Church
Address: 1011 2nd St, Muskegon, MI 49440
Other Important Information:
Confirmation Page: It is so important to ensure each table is diverse in not only age, gender, race, and geolocation. The more diverse each table is, the stronger the conversations we can have amongst each other from our different perspectives. Please note that when you sign up, we will ask you to please list these different demographics. THIS WILL NOT AFFECT YOUR REGISTRATION OR ABILITY TO PARTICIPATE. This is only to help our team create a seating chart.
Waitlist: Due to there being only 8 different conversation tables, we need to cap the number of individuals from each generation so that everyone has a seat. If your generation is waitlisted, please still consider signing up. We often have people who fall ill or have something come up before the event.
This need is for the SILENT GENERATION (Born between 1928 and 1945) ONLY. If you are on the wrong sign up, please use the links below to get to your correct group. You'll know if you are in the right group based on the title at the top of the page.
Baby Boom Generation (Born Between 1946 - 1964)
Generation X (Born Between 1965 - 1980)
Millennial Generation or Generation Y (Born Between 1981 - 1996)
Generation Z or iGen (Born Between 1997 - 2010)
About Generations Over Dinner:
Generations Over Dinner is a multi-faceted volunteer opportunity that honors Dr. King by fostering a sense of constructive action, civic participation, and belonging while combating the corrosive effects of hate on our democracy and safety. Generations Over Dinner is a global initiative to create meaningful multi-generational experiences and conversations. At the core of this initiative is this question: How many generations can you bring to the table? Can you find six generations to invite, five generations, four generations, or even the significant touchstone of bringing three generations together?
