Volunteer: Early Childhood tutor – AmeriCorps position

As an Early Learning Corps Interventionist you’ll spend your days helping children ages 3-5 to talk, read, write, sing and play in order to develop early literacy and numeracy skills and get ready for Kindergarten. Serving in one classroom, you’ll work closely with a teacher to enhance daily literacy and numeracy activities and help students build both skills and confidence. With great training and onsite coaching, you’ll be ready to make an impact through enhanced opportunities to develop their early language, literacy and math skills. No experience? No problem. Schedule: 30 hours per week. 7.5 service hours per day. Requires 4 days per week (M-Thu) and 1 Friday half day per month. Position starts 8/26/2024 and ends 5/31/2025.

Compensation/Benefits:  living stipend of $888.25 biweekly (totaling $1,776.50 per month), education award of up to $3,697.50 that can be used to repay federal student loans or future education expenses; federal student loan forbearance. Health insurance and childcare assistance is available for full-time interventionists. Interventionists who serve the duration of the school year may elect to complete their Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Michigan Education Corps AmeriCorps members also have access to the Member Support Fund (up to $500 for emergency /unexpected expenses), affinity groups and workforce development/career pathway groups.

Must be either a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.
