Who We Are
Mission: To work collaboratively with parents, educators, health professionals, business, and community leaders to ensure that children in Muskegon County are safe, healthy, and ready to succeed in school and life.
Our efforts focus on improving early childhood outcomes by providing resources and support to families with children from prenatal stages up to age 8. This initiative, developed under a grant from the Michigan Department of Education, fosters community engagement through programs such as playgroups, early literacy efforts, and support networks for parents.
What We Do
The Great Start Parent Coalition is for parents, grandparents, and caregivers of children 0-12 years old.
- It gives parents a voice on issues that affect their children
- Provides opportunities to meet other parents
- Shares parenting and early childhood development resources, workshops and information.
- Gives members a chance to volunteer to help other families and take on leadership roles in the community.
Read early. Read often. is one of the GSPC main outreach efforts. It’s a community campaign to spread the word of the importance of talking, reading, and singing everyday to our children from birth.
