Who We Are
Mission: To mobilize people and resources to drive research for a cure for multiple sclerosis (MS) and to address the challenges of everyone affected by the disease.
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society exists because there are people with MS. Our vision is a world free of MS. Everything we do is focused so that people affected by MS can live their best lives as we stop MS in its tracks, restore what has been lost and end MS forever.
We are more than an organization. We are a movement. United in our collective power to do something about MS now and end this disease forever. The gathering place for people with MS, their family and loved ones, healthcare providers, volunteers, donors, fundraisers, advocates, community leaders and all those that seek a world free of MS. A place to connect and take action. In order to change the world, we mobilize all possible human and financial resources to achieve results.
What We Do
The organization offers a variety of services, including:
- Educational resources to help people better understand MS and how to manage the condition.
- Support groups and counseling services for individuals and families affected by MS.
- Advocacy efforts at both the state and national levels to improve policies and access to healthcare for people with MS.
- Financial assistance for those needing help with medical expenses, mobility aids, or home modifications.
- Fundraising events, such as Walk MS and Bike MS, to raise money for MS research and to support local programs.
- Community programs aimed at enhancing the quality of life for individuals with MS, including wellness activities, social connection opportunities, and employment resources.
The chapter is also actively involved in funding and promoting research to find a cure for MS while working to improve treatments for those currently living with the disease.
