Who We Are

Mission: To deliver hospice, palliative and personal care across America with dignity, grace and empathy.

Hospice care is a specialized care that focuses on supporting you and your loved ones during an advanced illness. The emphasis is on comfort and quality of life, rather than finding a cure. Hospice care enables you to live each day to the fullest as comfortably and dignified as possible.

At Heartland Hospice, we understand the importance of time shared with family and friends, especially when facing the challenges of a life-limiting illness. Our clinicians are dedicated to offering the compassionate physical, spiritual and emotional care people need to make the most of these moments. We’re a team of caregivers that help clients age with grace and dignity, empowering them and their loved ones to share in a journey of kindness and support. It’s compassionate care that’s close to home, and close to the heart.

What We Do

As a hospice volunteer, you become a valuable part of our care team and play a vital role in improving the quality of life for those in our care. Heartland volunteers offer support, companionship and practical, compassionate help. Some interact directly with patients and families. Others prefer to work behind the scenes in the office setting. As a volunteer, you help determine which tasks you’re best suited to perform. Your service magnifies what we do and makes a big difference for patients and families.

Volunteer Tasks May Include:

  • Helping with office support tasks at the agency
  • Running errands for patients and families
  • Staying with patients so family members can get a much-needed rest
  • Reading, or providing a comforting touch
  • Playing or singing soothing music to patients
  • Keeping vigil with patients in their final hours
  • Providing a friendly visit to lift a patient’s spirits
  • Providing special veteran volunteer support to patients who are veterans

Please note: We suggest volunteers wait a minimum of one year following the death of a loved one to volunteer. This allows adequate time to make appropriate adjustments after a significant personal loss.
