Adopt A Working Family - UWL & Labor

Mission: To alleviate some of the additional costs during this time, allowing families to enjoy the holidays without the burden of extra expenses.

At United Way of the Lakeshore, we believe that every family should experience the joy of the holiday season. Our Adopt a Working Family program partners with West Michigan United Labor to offer a meaningful way to support local working families who are facing financial challenges. Through this program, you can help provide essential items, special holiday gifts, and joyful experiences for families in our community who need a little extra help during this time of year.

This Adopt a Family program lifts up “working” families that could use a Holiday blessing. Though working, sometimes LIFE happens. A medical situation, a vehicle repair, roof leak…The list goes on and on. Sadly, over the years, many of these families have fallen through the gaps.

Moving forward, it is our goal that these families can have a great holiday without some of the added costs that come with buying food and gifts. And maybe, just maybe, they can get caught up and be in a better place.

Many of these families typically would never ask for help, so this program has been designed to encourage referrals from family members, co-workers, friends, neighbors and employers. The program is flexible and allows the adopter to bring the gifts directly to the family they bless if both sides so choose.

When you sign up to adopt, you can choose from multiple options to find the family that fits you, your passions, and heart.

You can volunteer and register to provide holiday help to one or more of these families in your community that could use a helping hand for the holiday season.
