Rotary Youth Exchange: (Interview Day) Student Activities & Observation Volunteer

Description

Sunday, September 20 | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Help us identify the next generation of Rotary Youth Exchange students!

During the morning portion of our Youth Exchange Interview Day, prospective exchange students will participate in information sessions, group activities, and exercises designed to help them learn more about Youth Exchange while giving our committee an opportunity to see how they interact with their peers.

Volunteers will help us observe students throughout the morning, paying attention to how they communicate, participate, respond to new situations, work with others, and demonstrate thoughtfulness and maturity.

What You'll Do

Volunteers may:

  • Observe students as they interact with other applicants and participate in group activities.
  • Help facilitate activities designed to encourage students to step outside of their comfort zones. Don't worry, we'll provide instructions!
  • Sit in on information sessions and, if you're comfortable, help present or participate in discussions.
  • Take notes and provide feedback on each student's participation, demeanor, communication, and interactions with others.
  • Join a brief discussion at the end of the morning to share observations with the Youth Exchange team.

No previous Youth Exchange experience is required. Volunteers will receive a brief training ahead of Interview Day, either by email or through a short Zoom meeting, so everyone knows what to look for and feels prepared for the day.

This is a great opportunity for Rotarians who enjoy working with young people and want to help us select students who will represent our community and Rotary abroad.
