Join the Education Action Team
Help shape brighter futures for children across Muskegon, Newaygo, and Oceana Counties!
United Way of the Lakeshore is looking for passionate community members to join our Education Action Team, a group of volunteers helping guide and strengthen our work to improve educational opportunities and outcomes for local children.
You don’t have to be an educator to participate! We’re looking for parents, caregivers, educators, business and nonprofit professionals, retirees, young professionals, and other community members who care about helping children thrive.
What You'll Do
As an Education Action Team volunteer, you’ll have opportunities to:
- Share your perspective on the needs, barriers, and opportunities facing local children and families.
- Review local data and trends related to early literacy, school readiness, STEM, college exploration, and other educational opportunities.
- Provide feedback and ideas to strengthen United Way programs, partnerships, and community strategies.
- Help identify opportunities to engage volunteers and increase community awareness.
- Support advocacy efforts that expand opportunities for children and families.
- Help connect United Way with community partners, champions, resources, and potential supporters.
Commitment
The Education Action Team meets quarterly via Zoom, with occasional opportunities to participate in community events, volunteer projects, advocacy, or outreach efforts.
Our next meeting is Tuesday, September 15, from 2:00–3:30 p.m. via Zoom.
Whether you bring professional expertise, lived experience, community connections, or simply a passion for helping local children succeed, your voice belongs at the table.
Join us and help shape education initiatives that create meaningful opportunities for children and families throughout the Lakeshore.
