Description

The Muskegon County Homelessness Continuum of Care Network was scheduled to conduct our Winter Point in Time (PIT) Survey this Wednesday the 30th.  Due to the nature of the event and the inclement weather we are currently experiencing, we think it best to take advantage of another options for the Winter PIT.

We are recruiting volunteers, for 3 hour shifts, to come to your location and do the client engagement onsite. Both morning and afternoon shifts will be available if you have a confidential space where our volunteers can engage clients. This option requires no additional work by your staff and allows our volunteer to direct the client directly into services.

We are counting on our community. Without the data to support the need in our community funds for assistance programs will not be made available. Please contact Michael Ramsey at michael.ramsey@mercyhealth.com to request more information on volunteer and collaboration opportunities.

Volunteers and community members will be matched to a three hour shift, have a short training, and then paired with an agency/organization in Muskegon County. If you would like to get involved, please contact Michael Ramsey at michael.ramsey@mercyhealth.com.

If your agency or organization provides services to the homeless/at-risk population and would like to get involved, please contact Michael Ramsey at michael.ramsey@mercyhealth.com.

The PIT Survey is conducted nationwide by communities to not only get a count of people, both sheltered and unsheltered, experiencing homelessness, but also to try and understand the particular cause of their respective homelessness. This is a great opportunity for Muskegon County to demonstrate the need for services to our homeless population. The data collected from the PIT surveys provides invaluable information regarding the County’s homeless residents, and is used to support requests to private and public entities for funding for both housing and services, all with the goal of ending homelessness.

About the Muskegon County Homeless Continuum of Care Network: The MCHCCH is a Muskegon Community based organization that is supported by neighboring health and community-based organizations. Its main goal is to end homelessness in Muskegon County, and to provide resources and services to the poor and homeless. For more information, visit http://www.muskegoncoc.org/.
